Gingerbread house

boys finishing the houseToday we made cake for Gaudete Sunday tomorrow. 36 little patty cakes, 36 carob brownies then decided to try making a Gingerbread House.

The cake just fits in the fridge and I’m hoping it’ll travel to Mass alright.

The idea came from the CLAA. They have a gingerbread house competition running at the moment. I don’t think I would have tried it otherwise. And I probably wouldn’t have posted it here either.

We used recipes from Sue Dengate’s Failsafe Cookbook. Thanks go to Julia for making St Nicholas cookies with the Gingerless Pigs recipe, and Max for telling me all about them. I am surprised it’s holding together – no glue, all edible.
